Online Writing Course

Live Online – Time Management & Structure in Non-Fiction

Online //

19th November 2022
11am-1.30pm

Time is the essence of structure and can make or break a personal essay.

How does a writer go about managing time and therefore structure in a piece of Non-Fiction?  When does the story occur and over how long a time period? Where in time are we telling the story from? How much hindsight do you need and how much is too much? Past or present tense? In this workshop, we’ll consider the tricky business of time management in a piece of Nonfiction considering how other writers have tackled this challenge and what different time frames mean for the overall structure of the piece.

The session will be a mixture of exercise, example, and discussion. It will be held on Zoom for 2.5 hours, starting at 11am and ending at 1.30pm on Saturday 19th November.

This event is one of three Live Online sessions by Julia on writing Non-Fiction. The others are ‘The Decisive Moment: Writing a Personal Essay‘ and ‘Experimental Forms‘. You can purchase all three at a discounted price of £100 here.
